Archivo Digital: Luces, Cámara, Prensa (2020)
This thesis project sought to construct a transmedia narrative of press releases about the cinema from Bogotá, Colombia in the 1920s. It is based on an original digital archive of such material created for this purpose, and was implemented via digital storytelling and data visualization, integrating methodologies from the Digital Humanities. The first phase of the project involved the creation of a digital archive, in which primary sources and relevant materials were collected and curated to construct a comprehensive database of 1920s press releases. The second phase was the design of a transmedia narrative which explains, interprets, and visualizes this data using a variety of digital tools and visual arts techniques. Finally, a website prototype was created that effectively unifies both the digital archive and its transmedia narrative and allows users to access the compiled material and interact with it from different angles.
